BBQ Sweet Onions & Peaches

Hi Friends ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for all the advice on my passive aggressive coworkerโ€ฆI know I need to talk to him and I *will*, I just need to wait for the right time. I want to do it correctly and effectively. Itโ€™s a good thing I really only need to talk to him twice a week or so โ€“ so I get to do what I do best: AVOID him!

Jason and I are starting to plan our Vegas trip a little more, I think we decided to stay at the Bellagio:

This place looks so beautiful! And we are definitely getting one of their spa packages โ€“ one of them includes a 50 minute scalp, hands and feet massage. I.cannot.wait!!!

Weโ€™re thinking of seeing a show as well, maybe Cirque du Soleil?

Any suggestions on where to eat? I need to look up any Top Chef contestants/guest judges who have restaurants there โ€“ it would be neat to eat their food ๐Ÿ™‚

Speaking of food, check this out:

BBQ Sweet Onions & Peaches

This is super easy to make and a portion can be eaten alone or over a chicken breast, salad, roasted veggies, etc.

Chop one sweet onion and sautรฉ until soft โ€“ addย 1/4-1/3 bottle of BBQ sauce (I used a low sugar kind I found at Trader Joeโ€™s) and some water (I used apple juice since I had some) to thin it out. Add some sliced peaches (you could use fresh, I used a drained can) and stir to combine. Keep on low heat until everything is mixed well and heated through.

I donโ€™t usually care for onion, but these sweet onion slices are the best!

I ended Thursday with some Project Runway and a little of this:

My sister in law lent it to me and I have to read it. I look forward to being done with it and moving onto something more mind stimulating ๐Ÿ™‚

    I

    LOVE

    VEGAS.

We go there like every year…aside from this year, budget too tight. OMG!!! See LOVE in the Mirage, it is AMAZING! The Bellagio is awesome, great choice! I love the general area you are staying in best, Bellagio, Mirage, Caesars, etc. I stayed at MGM the first tim I went out, and it was way too big, and I didn’t like that general area as much…OMG there’s SO much to do out there, we need to keep going back to cover it all!! I don’t know what you like, but just def go to great dinners….and if you want a cheaper dinner go to the buffet in the Mirage…food AMAZING (we did that the night we saw LOVE because show tix were expensive)–but the dinner was GREAT! I saw LOVE 2x out there…if you go, call and make sure y ou get seats above, theres a good reason why ๐Ÿ™‚ talk to them and say it’s your first time in Vegas you want great seats, but higher up.

I read The Short Life of Bree Tanner, it was interesting, fed my Twilight fix for now ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Have a great weekend!

Retzers have stayed at the Bellagio and seen O before and Tyler says it’s the best. Best hotel and best show. Go for it.
We LOVED Sushi Roku on the top floor of the Caesar’s Palace mall. It’s a really small place but it was delicious. Also, go see the Criss Angel show… just kidding.
Are you going to try to meet up with Uncle Kenny? He’ll spot you a lunch and you’ll get to talk to a man who looks like our mom except bald. This may be your only chance!
I would recommend doing what me and Tyler did, and that’s getting really good exercise and seeing the whole strip by walking the entire thing and stopping at each casino. Why not? We literally did that for 3 straight days and still didn’t see it all. Can’t wait for you foo’s to go!!

  3. Matt Says:

I saw Cirque de Soliel in NYC. It is AWESOME.

  4. littleacceb Says:

I spent Christmas 2005 at the Bellagio, and it was gorgeous. We saw O on Christmas Day, and had dinner at Prime. My Dad still talks about how delicious it was to this day! I don’t think I’m arty enough to appreciate Cirque. We saw three shows and I fell asleep in each one ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Bobby Flay’s Mesa was also spectacular – I had this incredible tuna-three-ways dish, and it was just perfect.

On our most recent trip – our honeymoon this August – we ate at Tender in the Luxor, where we were staying. The people there were so nice, and it has the most fantastic, intimate atmosphere – we honestly felt like we were the only people there.

I don’t know how healthy you like to be on holiday, but we’re kind of bad – we eat some real rubbish with the justification that we don’t get to do it often. Because we don’t have all the pancakes and indulgence at breakfast here in the UK to the same extent, we took a cab out to the Black Bear Diner @ 6180 W. Tropicana Ave. It’s a bit of a trek, and you start to think “where is this cabbie taking me?” but when we got there it was so worth it. I had chicken fried steak for the first time (well, I had to have a Great American Breakfast on our Great American Roadtrip!) Naughty but nice, and the service was fantastic.

  5. Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) Says:

The Bellagio is SO NICE. One of the nicest in Vegas, for SURE. And I saw O in Vegas and thought it was amazing. Of course, I love all Cirque de Soliel shows ๐Ÿ™‚

You’re going to have so much fun!!

  6. leashieloo Says:

Eee Vegas! Now of all the Cirque shows, I would recommend the Beatles LOVE show. It was the best thing I ever saw there. Foodwise? You can’t fail. There’s so much deliciousness to be had, and if you’re staying at the Bellagio you definitely want to lunch on the outdoor patio that has a view of the fountain.

  7. Mary @ Bites and Bliss Says:

I remember going to Vegas years ago- I really want to go back in a few months when I’m old enough to actually *do* stuff! We stayed in the Luxor and it was really, really cool. But I was fascinated with the whole Egyptian culture so it was extra special to me. ๐Ÿ˜›

Some friends are coming to stay with my fir the weekend and we’re going to a hautned forest type thing. Those are always fun around Halloween. ๐Ÿ˜›

  8. Allie (Live Laugh Eat) Says:

The Bellagio is AMAZING!!!! One of my favorite places in Las Vegas. We literally walked in and around that place every day we were there. We didn’t stay there though so I am super jealous of you.

You MUST try a buffet! We loved the one at Mandalay Bay. Vegas is known for their buffets, ya know. We tried another one at a diff place and didn’t really like it–I can’t remember where. I’ll ask my fam.

  9. Beth Says:

Ohhh I’m soooo jealous you’re going to Vegas!!!! I’ve never been but have heard its unreal!

  10. spabettie Says:

of all the great restaurants we visited last month, my favorite was B & B – seriously amazing in every way. Bouchon was fabulous also.

Sushi Roku is VERY good – also Sushi Samba for some original rolls.

Go visit ‘The City’… it’s HUGE and awesome ๐Ÿ˜€

  11. Shanna, like Banana Says:

Vegas is pretty fun for a weekend or short week =)

I think it’s awesome that you may go to Top Chef restaurants..that would be my choice too.

I’d suggest hitting up the Ghost Bar in Palms because it’s a pretty amazing view and not too ‘clubby’.

    Have fun!

  12. Christina @ Food.Fun.Fabulous Says:

I read about the first 4 pages of that but didn’t finish it. However I not so secretly love all the Twilight books ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Jaime Says:

Don’t laugh, I have never been to Vegas. Well, actually I went when I was 12, but that doesn’t count! Can’t wait for you to blog about it so I can plan my trip around the things you did. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  14. Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday Says:

I actually don’t like Vegas all that much. I don’t really like to gamble or drink and I find there isn’t all that much else to do. I suppose the selection of shows is great though. That would make it worth it.
Personally, I prefer vacations that are really active. Like hiking or rafting or canyoning.

I know that my sister LOVES vegas. She had her wedding there in ’09 at the Wynn. That hotel is beautiful! We had dinner at Strata there and it was phenomenal!

  15. Emma Says:

I’m jealous! I want to go to Vegas! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love anything Twilight so I devoured that book in a couple of hours! It’s not that great but I’ll take anything… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Does ‘Hocus Pocus’ count as a scary movie? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love it!

  16. Jenny Says:

    That looks really good!

  17. Food Loving Polar Bear Says:

A trip to Vegas sounds awesome, I wish I got to go someday too. A colleague of mine is there at the moment and I can’t wait for her stories ๐Ÿ™‚ and how cool it would be to eat at a Top Chef contestants / winners / guest judges restaurant!!!!!

  18. Jennifer @ keepitsimplefoods.com Says:

Vegas rocks and so does Cirque. You’ll have fun! I never did read that last edition of the Twilight Saga…was kind of over it by that point. Glad to hear I didn’t miss anything.

  19. Tina Says:

I want to go to Vegas specifically for the food and the shows! Cirque de Soleil would top my list for shows. And oh what I would give for a scalp, hand, and foot massage. I think those are the most relaxing parts of any massage.

  20. Kylie @ A Hungry Spoon Says:

Love the BBQ recipe–I’m definitely bookmarking this one to serve with tempeh and some roasted veggies.

And I hate scary movies! I’m a complete wuss and get completely terrified and freaked out to go to bed after I watch them, so I just try to avoid ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. Katie Says:

I love caramelized onions like that, but never thought to add BBQ and peaches…what a great idea! I just so happen to have roasted veggies on the agenda for dinner tonight (big surprise) and was in need of something to smother them in. You’re awesome!

I HIGHLY reccommend Cirque. I went to one and absolutely loved every moment of it. I think I had a stupid grin on my face the whole time.

  22. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) Says:

Bellagio. The best. Have stayed there many times. Never lets me down. It’s 1st class all the way. And it’s not so huge like the MGM where you could have a 1/2 mile to the elevator banks in your stilletos while feeling tipsy. Not fun and the Bellagio is not like that. It’s awesome and you will LOVE IT!

Fave meal(s) of all time, ever. In life. Ever. Are at Michael Mina inside the Bellagio. Look into it. You will not be disappointed. 5 stars, first class, truly amazing cuisine.

And O. Loved it. Also loved Mystere. I have never seen a “bad” Cirque show…have seen maybe 10. Some in Vegas, and traveling shows in San Diego as well as at Disney in Orlando.

But my faves are 1. Mystere and 2. O They are both different and both amazing. BRING A SWEATER into O. The theatre is freezing cold. I do mean freezing.

Thanks for the travel tips linky love ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad you liked them!

  23. eatmovelove Says:

Gosh a Cirque Du Soleil show would be awesome! My mom seen it one time actually -but she doesn’t/didn’t really know what it is or what it’s about…she kept saying they were going into town to see a “circus-type” show…;)

  24. candicemccoy Says:

I know it’s terrible…but I have never been to Vegas! I want to go sometime, but it just hasn’t happened yet. Can’t wait to hear about your experience there, though!

And I’ve definitely heard great things about Cirque Du Soleil as well – would love to go to one of those shows:)

  25. Wendy Says:

Oh man, I’ve never been to Vegas but have always thought the Bellagio looks so divine! Good choice!!

*What are your plans for the weekend? Anything fun?
Pretty low-key weekend, I think. Today we’re going to pick out a pumpkin for Liss and then we’ll come home and carve it. Tomorrow will be church and who knows what else…. I can pretty much guarantee I’ll be playing LOTS of Angry Birds Halloween Edition cuz I’m tragically addicted, and reading more in “Julie & Julia” – GREAT book so far!!

What is your all-time favorite scary movie? “Witch Board”
