*Happy Birthday to Jason! *
I’m only working a ½ day today, then I’m heading down to Jason’s work (about 30 minutes south of where I work) to meet him for lunch. Hopefully he’ll get out of work early – if not, I’ll hang out at a coffee shop and finish up
I’m kind of surprised that this book is taking me so long to finish – The Hunger Games took me 2-3 days to finish? And same with Catching Fire? No matter, I will finish Mockingjay soon enough 🙂
I baked some cookies for Jason to bring to work– please tell me that you used to bring treats for your classmates when it was your birthday. I was just remembering that for years we were able to bring in homemade treats and then suddenly you had to bring in storebought, prepackaged items.
I used Phoebe’s Grandmother’s recipe 🙂 and these chips (milk chocolate/PB swirled chips??? yes please)
They turned out so good – not one of them burned or fell apart and when I removed them from the cookie sheet. I mean, how can you go wrong with the Nestle Tollhouse cookies?
And because I have no way to smoothly transition into this next part of the post, here it is.
Jason loves Spiderman – as evidenced by the gift bag from his Mom (given to him over the weekend) — and you don’t even want to know about all of the Spiderman stuff in our house!
And check out the piece of bread that I made into toast (ta-da!) as part of Jason’s breakfast:
Are you kidding me?!?!?! That piece of bread was MADE for him!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JASON!!!
that is just wonderful that you are taking some time off to spend with him on his special day – fingers crossed he DOES get out of work early, too!
spiderman toast?! now that is creative AND very funny!
i don’t remember bringing treats to school, but i did when i worked as a teacher and later at an insurance company. it sure was expected that you would!
the book you are reading is a new one to me – will look forward to your review!

I laughed and laughed when I opened up the bread and found a piece with Spiderman eyes!!! How hilarious.
The book I’m reading is the 3rd in the Hunger Games series — pick them up! 🙂

Happy Birthday to Jason!
I definitely used to take treats into school for my birthday…although I have a summer birthday, so I had to pick a pretend birthday for the school thing.
Yay for half days! Have fun 🙂

bahaha. Happy Birthday to Jason.
Yes, my mom would always make some red velvet cupcakes for my school in England (since we actually had school in July….). Sadly in the states my birthday is in the summer. 😦
Ha that bread is hilarious!

Very very cool bread 🙂
I too worked half day today due to the fact that a fire at one of the electricity sub station near our work. That caused an power outage and they predict it is going to be 3-5 days until they can provide electricity to that part where my work is situated.
Yummy looking cookies

Awesome.
Can’t wait to hear what you think of the book!

Happy Bday to Jason 😉
And yes, totally brought treats to school on my Birthday. Truth be told, I bring them to work now too! It’s fun to share in your special day of happiness right?

I like to bring treats to work too — and believe me I love it when coworkers bring them in as well!

Those cookies look delicious! I understand the food allegy scares at school, but I think homemade cookies are so much better tasting and better for you than store bought.
That bread is awesome! Made for him. Happy birthday to Jason!
March 8, 2011 at 8:08 pm
I totally agree about homemade vs. storebought!
March 8, 2011 at 10:47 am
hahaha – that bread is hilarious! Small world. The cookies look delicious. I’m sure he was excited to take them to work. I loved it when my mom would send me to school with cupcakes or cookies on my birthday as a kid. I hope you and Jason have fun celebrating!

Happy birthday, Jason!!! I freakin’ love the Spider Toast!!! 😀

I’ve never seen those peanut butter/chocolate swirl morsels before – they look so good! But dangerous! =)
March 8, 2011 at 8:09 pm
I first saw the chips around the holidays and thought they were a seasonal item, but it looks they are here year round — not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing!
March 8, 2011 at 12:31 pm
LOVE the Spiderman bread!! One of my best friends actually writes the Spiderman comics, and I totally want to make toast like this for him now! 😀
And can you please pass me one of those cookies? I want one right now!!
March 8, 2011 at 12:58 pm
Happy Birthday to Jason!!!
haha, I am cracking up over that bread. Looks like spiderman…
March 8, 2011 at 7:32 pm
Hahahaaaaaaaa! The bread is so cool! 😀
March 8, 2011 at 7:56 pm
Happy Bday Jason!
The cookies look wonderful!
And the bread…pretty soon the Virgin Mary will be appearing as the cream disperses through your black coffee type of stuff. I love the spiderman resemblance!

happy birthday to your hubby!
holy, i can’t believe you read those books in 2-3 days! it’s taking me 2 months to get through mine. (i only read on the treadmill these days…sigh…) hope you had a great day!

I did NOT like Mockingjay. I like to pretend to myself that that book was never written, and that the series ended with Catching Fire. I hate how Katniss just seems like a pawn through all of Mockingjay. And some other stuff too, but I can’t talk about them without ruining the book.
The Spiderman bread is so funny! What a perfect coincidence!
March 9, 2011 at 12:09 pm
Happy birthday to Jason! And wow, that bread is seriously Spidermanesque, so funny!
