About me

Hi! Welcome to my blog!

I am Holly, the Couch Potato Athlete. Why might you ask? Because I love Couches, Potatoes and Athletes, duh.
Wait, that’s not right.
I am a Couch Potato and an Athlete – so naturally the name sticks. I love to be active, whether its running, walking, or using one my gazillion exercise dvds/books:

I am a Couch Potato because I love TV and I love movies. I also love reading and other things around the house: cleaning, organizing, cooking, etc. Vegging out in front of the TV is a glorious way to spend some time, especially when I’m curled up in my beloved Snuggie.
Am I a healthy eater? I think so. I do my best to live in the “all things in moderation” camp – so weekly treats are necessary! Jason (my husband) and I choose to not eat much dairy, it doesn’t seem to agree with either of us. That being said, from time to time we use butter in recipes, have cheese on sandwiches or grab an ice cream cone if we so choose 🙂
I have maintained a weight loss of about 20 lbs. I used the Weight Watchers program and for the most part “enjoyed” my time on that program. Now I try to eat a good balance of vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, healthy fats and healthy carbs. I try to avoid highly processed foods, but again, I am in the “moderation” camp and will not cut out foods.
Holly + cutting out foods = feeling deprived = eating too much of said “bad” food.
Thanks for reading!

I just found your blog. Your love of movies/TV and strife for fitness reminds me of an ingenious idea I first heard of yesterday when I toured a new gym in my neighborhood. They have a cardio movie theater! You can elliptical or run while you take in a good flick. The perfect compromise for the couch loving athlete.
