 Thanks again for the nice comments about my debt posts – although I wish that no one else had debt like we did, it is somewhat comforting to know that we weren’t alone in those struggles.

We had such a busy weekend — I am actually looking forward to going to work this morning! I miss my daily routine. 😦

Wendy, you were kind enough to remember that J and I went to a wedding reception on Saturday — I did not take photos because I really don’t know the bride/groom too well (bride is J’s coworker) — and it was a pretty laid back affair. But they had good food and plenty of music 🙂

Yesterday J and I went to a bbq/outdoor party and were asked to bring a dish to share. Usually I bring veggies or a salad (or something I can eat in case everything is not lookin good) — but I wanted to bring some sort of dessert instead. I decided to make a Fruit Pizza. I used a Pillsbury recipe and it turned out fabulous:

It was a big hit at the party 🙂

After we left, J and I stopped at this place:

We did find one treasure from Treasure City to bring home:

They fit right in with Big Mac and Mayor McCheese!!! And for only $10, how could we not buy them?

2. Do you have any collections? I wouldn’t call my McD things a “collection” although I sure would like to get the rest of the glasses in that set. I used to collect shot glasses, but I recently sold them all in a garage sale.

Good Morning!

Thanks everyone for your comments about weekly grocery costs, meal planning, dietary restrictions, etc. Budgeting and meal planning is one of my favorite things to doyes I said “favorite” – and I am looking forward to writing some posts on those topics.

Thursday night J and I had date night. We have a super busy weekend and needed some time to relax and rewind. We had a gift card to TGIFriday’s and went to use it up!

I got the Caribbean Chicken with extra veggies:

J got the Captain Morgan Caribbean Conga-Line Chicken Sandwich (with huge pieces of avocado and sweet potato fries)

Same thing we got last time. This Captain Morgan rum glaze is seriously the best! Afterward I ran to the Redbox (are these a local thing? A vending machine for movies?) and was hoping to find The Lovely Bones (I just finished the book last week and still need to see the movie) but it wasn’t there. Instead, I picked up this:

I think we’ll watch it tonight. We’ve picked out such awful movies lately (The Professional — older movie with Natalie Portman and then recently Legion — horrible movie with Dennis Quaid). They were both pretty awful. Lets hope Kickass isn’t super lame.

I finished Thursday night with a haircut (just a trim). Am I the only one who loves the feel of someone else brushing your hair? I think it is so calming. I also soaked in our jacuzzi tub and read more Sookie. I think it is so important to spend some time on yourself every day. I need the relaxation! I try not to treat myself with food, so I do little things like taking a bath, reading my book, taking a walk, painting my nails, buying myself something expensive small. 🙂

Here’s our crazy weekend:

Saturday: Farmers Market, drive 2 hours to J’s family reunion, drive 2 hours to friend’s wedding, drive 2 hours home (ugh!)
Sunday: Drive 3 hours to BBQ/Picnic, then drive 3 hours home (ugh!)

So much time in the car. I am not looking forward to that!

I got in a great workout last night, I did some FBB strength training and some TurboFire HIIT – I love when I feel my blood pumping!

Katie’s post really influenced my decision to do more strength/weight training. I love cardio, but I really want to be STRONG. Thanks Katie for the push in the right direction!

I made a really simple lunch today. My sister L made it for me when she was visiting last week. We picked out some lovely beets at the Farmers Market. I boiled them up, let them cool a bit and then peeled and sliced them. My hands didn’t get too pink from the beets:

I added some goat cheese and dressed the salad with this:

Who could not love Paul Newman dressing? Ok, who could not love anything with Paul Newman’s face on it? Then I sprinkled the salad with some walnuts, and ta da:

I’m going to add this to a bed of greens, but it looks so purty on its own!
